Leeds Junior Conservatoire is a vibrant programme supporting talented actors, musicians, and producers, helping them to develop skills and offering the opportunity to explore new areas in a supportive and nurturing environment. Students attending the programme are aged between 9 and 18. We work with students at all levels, from beginners through to advanced.
We currently have a vacancy for an experienced band and musicianship tutor. The role involves working with bands in a variety of popular music genres and working with students who are passionate about their music but may be self-taught and will thrive in a positive, inclusive learning environment. The musicianship classes are Songwriting (age 11-15) and Writing Your Own Music (age 9-11). Both classes introduce students to the skills needed to create their own music in a variety of styles.
Applicants must have experience of teaching practical and theoretical music to young people of mixed abilities and ages and must have the ability to plan and deliver an informative lesson. Tact, self-motivation, reliability, flexibility and excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
