This is an exciting time to join Gear4music and become part of our rapidly expanding Own Brand team. As we invest further in developing our Stage & Lighting category, we are looking for a Product Specialist with strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience of stage, theatre, entertainment lighting and effects equipment.
In this role, you will oversee product, range, and brand development, helping to drive the continued success of our Own Brand offering. Working closely with our in-house teams and manufacturing partners around the world, you will play a key role in bringing high-quality Stage & Lighting products to market, ensuring they meet the needs of customers while supporting ambitious commercial growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Category Ownership: Take ownership of the Own Brand Stage & Lighting category, driving product strategy and range development through market research, competitor analysis, customer insight, and commercial performance.
Procurement & Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and develop relationships with new manufacturing partners while maintaining strong working relationships with existing suppliers to deliver quality products and competitive pricing.
Product Development: Manage multiple product development projects simultaneously, taking products from concept through to launch. Develop commercially competitive, well-specified products that meet customer needs and align with brand objectives.
Product Testing & Analysis: Conduct thorough testing and evaluation of product samples and production units to ensure quality, performance, and reliability. Work closely with the Compliance team to ensure all products meet relevant safety and regulatory standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the Own Brand Design, Commercial, and Marketing teams to deliver successful product launches, engaging marketing campaigns, and effective merchandising strategies for your products.
Technical Expertise: Act as the internal subject matter expert for the Stage & Lighting category, providing technical guidance, delivering product training, and assisting with troubleshooting.
What We’re Looking For:
We value diverse backgrounds and experiences. Even if you don’t tick every box but are excited about this role, we encourage you to apply.
Industry Knowledge: A strong background in stage and lighting products, with an in-depth understanding of the market, emerging technologies, and customer requirements.
Commercial Awareness: A commercial and analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret market trends and data to support informed product and range decisions.
Product Development Experience: Experience in a product development, procurement, or commercial role is advantageous but not essential. We’re equally interested in candidates with strong industry expertise and the right aptitude.
Project Management: Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
Collaboration: A collaborative approach with the ability to build effective working relationships across internal teams and with international manufacturing partners.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to present ideas, share technical knowledge, and influence stakeholders.
Technical & IT Skills: Confident using Microsoft Office and other business systems, with the ability to analyse data and produce clear reports and documentation.
Personal Attributes:
Passionate about stage, lighting, and entertainment technology
Self-motivated, proactive, and driven to achieve results
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
Curious, adaptable, and eager to learn
A natural problem solver with a continuous improvement mindset
